When can we change it in order to be paid bi-monthly or weekly? Waiting a full month really rots.

I have been paid weekly and bi-weekly as well as bi-monthly before but this month long wait is the pits.

In my experience, hourly wage positions tend to pay twice a month (e.g. 5th and 20th of every month). Salaried positions (like ours here) are often paid monthly. This is just my experience, I haven't looked this up to confirm... just saying.

I personally prefer two times a month, but it isn't an issue for me. Just a preference.

Do you really expect an entire country to change their salary scheme just to suit a couple children who can't learn to budget their income?

I had a salaried position that paid twice a month. I like this more.

I agree with the OP.

I get paid every Friday, cash in hand, which totally RULES.

But then, I'm not in Korea Razz

Salary jobs usually pay once a month, but it's OK once you get ahead after a couple lean months and aren't living paycheck to paycheck waiting for your beer money to pass through the rabbit hole. Ah, the first month. No money, no internet service, and little else but working and patiently waiting for a much needed break in the finance department.

Having a salary job implies that you are an adult and are able to budget your money and to plan things for a months time.

Always remember the week before pay day to be slow. No one wanted to go out as they usually blew their load after the first weekend. But yeah budgeting is important but you can always ask for an advance then do overtime.

Being paid monthly is WAY better than weekly or bi-weekly. A paycheck every Friday tends to lead to pissing 95% of your salary away, whereas one payday per month really helps you to stash away the savings.

If you're running out of money in Korea, then you really need to look at how you're spending your money. There is absolutely no need for anyone to spend over 1.5 million per month here, and really 1 or 1.2 is a more than reasonable budget for a month.
