Hello ALL
I recently decided to teach in Korea, have prepared my documents and posted my resume up. Am a 25 year old female, BS in Science and TEFL Certif.
I don't REALLY know anything about which schools to avoid and what would be an "ideal" job.
My friend over there says 6-7 hours teaching a day, but I don't want to get caught in an awful situation in a hagwon that some people have horror stories about..
He says teach at a smaller school.. What is considered smaller ?
Any help would be appreciated thanks! |

Look through the contract sticky, that should give you an idea of what's legit and what isn't. You can also post your own contract there when you get an offer.
Oh, and Wonderland probably has the worst reputation of hagwon chains in Korea. I do have a friend who works at a not-so-bad Wonderland, but those are so few and far between, why take the chance? |

All hagwons are run differently. There isn't a chain that is all bad. You actually need to talk to the school, manager, and teachers there to find out if it is good or not. If you blacklist a school just by the label, you will miss the good ones.
Look at the contract and talk to the school. The recruiter is only a matchmaker, they don't help you find the the school you may really want. |
