i bought one for my gf. i love it. i only have the ipod classic. anyways, i want one of my own now, but is it really worth it?

if you have one, how often do you use it? a friend told me his iphone is a life changer. is it really that great? i'm afraid i'd get bored of it after a few weeks/months.

I own an ipod touch, and love it!!! I've had it for about a year, and it definitely is worth the money. I traveled to China, Spain, and Italy, and was able to have the travel books on my ipod touch, rather than carrying them with me and being a totallly obvious tourist. I also was able to use Skype on it, and keep in touch with my family in the states while traveling. You just have to make sure that you have a set of earbuds with a microphone attached. I use it for my alarm clock, internet while out and about, etc. It's wonderful!

I use my Touch every day, in various ways, including as a pedometer, an ebook, a browser, an alarm clock, an mp3 player, a game console, and a camera. And to be honest, I think I'm only grazing the surface of what it's really capable of. I'm no Apple fanboy, this is my first product of theirs, but I have to admit that it's a pretty powerful machine.

i'd just ante up for an iphone or another smartphone if i really wanted one. i have a low end smartphone (nokia) which isn't all that hot, but it's really nice not having to carry an mp3 player or pmp in addition to a phone.

I have an iPOD touch, and I love it! I think, though, that I'd also pay up for the iPhone, or maybe even a Galaxy Tab, just for the convenience of the rest of the things they can do. I mean, yeah, the iPOD touch is nice, but it would be great to have a camera with it, and the phone capabilities without having to worry about trying to find a wi-fi connection to use Skype.

The new one has a camera. I do second getting a smartphone and streamlining what you carry around, though.

I have an iPod Touch (64GB) and love it. I use it all the time for not only audio purposes, but also it is my mobile Internet device and my main Skype device. Many apps I have for it are very useful, especially dictionaries, but also many specialized ones for services I use frequently.

My son uses his in conjunction with his MacBook when doing PPT lectures and has done some wonderful things with it.

I would like to get the new one with the camera, but it's not crucial at this point.

i think i'm gonna get with my next paycheck. what are the most useful apps that you have?

and, i wish apple would let u turn in your old ipod touch when a newer generation comes out.

my friend has one without the camera, i'd be upset if i bought the older version then the newer version came out a few weeks later.

Here are the ones I use most frequently:

ShoutCast (Internet radio)

AED dictionary

Prime Korea/English dictionary

FaceBook

Classics (arcade-type games--it kills boredom when in a boring situation)

NoraeBook (noraebang song listings)

CNN/ABC/NPR apps for news

YouTube Navigator

amp (a better audio player than the one that comes with it)

Convert Units (conversion app)

Calendar 365

Google Earth

PayPal

TVU Player (TV app)

I have many others, too, but those are the most-used.

cool, one more question, how accessible is the wifi here? is it pretty much at every shop/restaurant/diner? inside malls? what about when you're traveling? i would imagine china doesn't have much wifi unless you're in a big city.

Here in Korea WiFi is fairly common. Most coffee shops and many restaurants have it, as do many rest areas along the freeways. I have no idea about China, though.

In the states I think you get 10% off a new purchase if you turn in any apple hardware. They may do something like that here, though it's not a whole lot of money.
