I'm 'interested' (if that's the word you can use about the constant lack of consistent information in Korea and assertions about 'rules') to know what is the real situation re the timing of visa docs especially when Korean employers assert different things.
I see a uni ad has said that the criminal record check has to be within a 3 month period but then I keep hearing that the regs that came about on September 1st ask for a 6 month validity crc. Then you hear that apostilled degrees are only valid for 3 months when I've heard from different sources that it's 6 months.
What's the situation? Personally I think the job situation in Korea is just degenerating into farce. You'd be surprised to know that there are real jobs (not just 1 year insecure contract ones) outside the ESL field that recruit for workers from outside the country, and not only offer better everything but actually demand less documents.
I'm coming around to the mindset of why bother - it only encourages the Korean system to demand more and more for worse and worse jobs and conditions. Most jobs here certainly deserve inexperienced people with no clue for the nonsense associated with them. |

I hear ya.
I just got an email from my employer regarding Immigration protocol. The following day, the email was retracted. Apparently, Immi changed its mind.
Again. |

What was that about? Or is it a private matter?
Re the demands for a one year limited term contract (demands that keep changing and cost ridiculous money like 100 to 150 pounds a pop, 200 to 300 US), I've known people coming from abroad to work as foreigners in the UK on permanent positions with security and benefits who don't have to go through such a process.
Believe it or not, all the talk about how what the Koreans demand for E-2 visas is just how it is in the rest of the world, is not true. I'm sure the US is difficult but the UK and other European countries have fairly reasonable policies for foreigners working there.
I'm not just talking about members of the European Union, I knew a fellow from outside those countries who is working in IT in my home city. He is a highly skilled person who had to provide less than what is being demanded for the E-2 these days, his job is not a one year contract and there were and are not constant changing demands despite the fact that the UK like many countries outside Korea has to think more about security because of the constant flow of people from around the world. |
