Are you supposed to pay for a certain type of connection if you are using it for a business like a cafe?

My school has a wireless network and when the provider noticed that multiple computers(a whopping 3) were connected at the same time, they attempted to block our use through some internet explorer thing. Basically a page pops up, we click on a red button, exit explorer, then restart it. But then whoever else happens to be connected at the same time is disconnected. When the secretary called they gave her some BS about having to buy THEIR wireless router....

Easy enough to work around as I just use firefox, but can be a pain when I try and do internet banking at school(which requires IE).

Problem lies in the fact that the school is probably only paying for one IP address and then hooked up a hub rather than a router. This means that they need a separate (from the ISP) IP address for each computer rather than one that is shared and routing taken care of within your own network.

Buy a new router (theirs or one from another vendor) and plug it into the downstream side of the modem and your problems go away.
