I was just wondering if there are many Tkd schools in Seoul and do they cater for english speakers. Any idea of how much it costs per session/ month etc. Twisted Evil

There are many TKD schools in just about every town in Korea. Some may accomodate non-Korean speakers better than others, but even if there's a language barrier, it won't be too big of a problem.

Your biggest issue would be finding a school that has classes for people your age, or at the very least your size. In Korea, learning TKD is mainly for kids, as adults who are involved in TKD have already attained a very high level and are doing more in-depth training which is unsuitable for novices. The best you can hope for is to find a class with older high school students. Even if they're younger than you, at least they'll be fully grown.

Just take a walk around your neighbourhood dude. There'll likely be a TKD gym in every second or third building (a bit of an exaggeration but you get the idea).

Stop in and ask how much a month costs and if they have adult classes or high school/middle school classes.

Or write down the phone numbers and have a Korean speaking friend call and ask your questions.

Make a short list of the gyms you are interested in and watch a session before making your decision.

The language barrier won't trouble you too much. You'll be able to do well and learn a little Korean like the names of your formations and kicks, counting, etc. It's basically follow the leader and adjust when the master/instructor gives you tips. You'll understand enough to progress at a good rate.

Study a little Korean if you want to get a better benefit and better understanding of the reasons why your formations and sets are designed the way they are. Visualize an imaginary opponent and what they would be doing when you do your sets.

Cheers and have fun.

PS. Work on the flexibility as much as you can and you'll find it so much easier.
