Hi everyone.
I recently purchased a US version XBOX 360 Slim, and I was curious how Live will run on it. Can I purchase a Live subscription in stores here for US consoles, or can I do it online? |

What if you have a Korean Xbox Slim? Should I make a live account with the location in Korea (and in Korean) or should I make it for US (with English).
I'm a little concerned about transactions, multiplayer and having English language...
Can I mix and match a Korean console with a US Live account? Can I get a Korean Live account in English? If I have a US Live account are all the servers in the US (high lag)?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks. |

Coming from South Africa where Live was not supported, we still had a huge online base. What we did, and what you need to do, is when signing up for your membership, select US and then enter in a US address and zip code. The address must match the region you're signing up with. I have a UK account and used my sister UK address.
When it comes to buying MS Points, you can check out Maximum Cards for US Points and Game Points Now for UK Points. As far as I know, the actual Live subscriptions are not region specific. Alternatively, you could enter in a US credit card.
But yeah, you can do all this on any console - doesn't matter from which country or whether is PAL or NTSC.
EDIT - Lag will depend on what games you play... In the Call Of Duty games, there is lag, but its primarily down to bad coding. Most games should be fine. The problem with signing up for a Korean Live membership, is what you get with it... downloadable content, Arcade titles, demo's etc will be very different to the US, and probably a lot less to choose from. Also, if you take the US account, you should still be able to get your Netflix. |

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot with a US account. |

The Xbox Live Gold subscriptions sometimes are region specific. I bought one here and it does not work with my Canadian Live ID.
If you buy a Korean Xbox still sign up with a Live ID that has your home country address. You will need to buy a Gold card from your home country but it will make things easier in the long run. I have heard that if you have a Korean Live ID, some games will only connect you to other Korean Live ID users in multiplay. That would really suck especially if you don't speak Korean. |

You got it right. I tried my Korean Xbox with a US live ID and an Asian Gold account. Didn't work. I tried to make a Hong Kong Live ID in English and it worked! The HK Live seems pretty good, but I'm going to switch over to US after my 3 months are through. |

My live account is US, my Xbox here is Korean. No problems, just swap the system language in the settings. |

My problem was that I bought "Asian" points here in Korea. The region of the Xbox doesn't matter. Just your ID location and Redeem Coupon must be in the same region.
I wonder if I can buy a US coupon and transfer my gamertag ID to US after my 3 months are through with my "Asia" live? I'd hate to lose all my stuff. |
