Hi there!
Just wanted to ask anybody that had experience in using their foreign credit card on Gmarket. I'm new to Gmarket and they have asked the following:
"As for your on-line purchase, we'd like to inform you that delivery is not available at the moment as we cannot confirm if it is your card. We don't have any way to confirm it here as long as it's an undomesticated card, unfortunately.
On this reason, we kindly ask you to send us a photo of credit card(with last 4 digit hidden).
The name on credit card should be the same as the one on ID card.
And after checking necessary date for increasing payment ceiling on Gmarket, your email will be deleted right away.
We hope that we can handle this matter ASAP so that you can receive your order soonest .
please be reminded again that we cannot proceed with this order without the confirmation mentioned above."
I just want to know is it safe to send via email your credit card picture?
Can I trust Gmarket with sending the picture?
I never done this before... Your advice is most welcome"""_""""" |

NO! That makes absolutely no sense. How does sending a picture of your credit card prove anything? |

Hey guys
Thanks for the replies!
I have emailed them about the issue, just waiting for their reply..
Also, before they sent the email regarding the credit card check, I've already completed the transaction. My foreign credit card account shows the amount being taken out. So, what should I do if they keep asking me for my credit card details, because they are refusing to deliver the package without me sending them the pics of my Credit card.
I never had to take pictures of credit cards in Australia for this type of purchase.... |

Sounds kind of fishy. It doesn't make sense for them to go ahead and bill the card for the amount if they are unsure you are even the owner of the card. Maybe I am missing something, but shouldn't that have insisted on a picture BEFORE they billed the card?
All of that said..if you are in Korea anyway, why not just use your Korean Bank account to pay for the purchase? That is one of the things I LOVE about Gmarket..I can pay them with the bank account, and I don't have to give (credit card/online banking) info over the internet. They just send the account number and stroll on down to the atm and send it. |
