it's winter camp, and i've been playing a board game called "loaded questions." we're all sitting in a big circle.

the first grade boy sitting next to me is.... touchy feely. he's poking my thigh, caressing my knee caps with the tips of his fingers.

i'd look down and say "sean! what are you doing?" and the 2nd grade boy next to him saw what was going on and scolded him in korean and i heard the word "gay" somewhere in there. he looked down and his face turned red. but then minutes later, he did it again.

and again, i'd say "sean! what are you doing?"

i don't think he's gay of course, i think he just has an admiration for me. he used to come up to me and feel my biceps and ask me to flex. but again, i thought it was just admiration for a male role model.

sigh.... anyone have touchy feely students like this?

How about smacking his hand away and growling 'I'll break your hand clean off'

I would love to see him try that on a male Korean teacher. What do you think would happen?

Shrug it off, man. I once had a kid grab my willy. Now that was uncomfortable!

It's just what they're like here... old men hold hands, and everyone grabs each other, mauls and molests and picks and pries... if it bugs you that much just ask your co-teacher/someone with power at the school to start a 'no touching' rule.

it doesn't bug me "that" much because only one student does it. if it was multiple students doing it, then yeah, it'd be a problem that i'd probably address more seriously.

I guess you have to try not to sit next to him. It sounds like he can't help it, like touching you is some sort of nervous tic or something. It doesn't sound like he wants to do it, necessarily... does he touch the other kids, or just you?

General rules fix present problems and prevent future problems from occurring. They also do so without calling attention to the student in an embarrassing way.

The kids aren't really supposed to be touching us anyway.

I've got students like that, and I work in a university (haven't experienced the willy grabbing, thankfully). I just tell them directly not to touch me and they don't do it again.

the little ones, usually the girls, always try to sit on my lap and i quickly brush them off or stand up. I feel bad bc they think im dismissing them, but it just wouldnt look right if a K-teacher just happens to walk by my door.

I get hugs from a lot of my 3rd graders, mostly girls though, but one of the boys has hugged me twice and both times put his face on my boob. The first time I though it was just a bad angle. The second time (a couple of weeks later) he said "Mmmm!" and I frowned at the other teacher and she started cracking up, but I didn't want to hurt the kid's feelings. He's sweet and hasn't even come close to puberty. I've been doing a lot more high fiving and a lot less hugging, though. Confused

Classic. I don't think that males of any age are disinterested in boobs. They taught me to eat. I could never thank them enough. It's the front bum that only becomes interesting at puberty.
