If you have a prior arrest from over 10 years ago will that prevent you from getting a visa to teach in Korea?

It does unfortunately.

also, expect a bunch of "holier than though" responses to your question. I think it makes the kids feel better about themselves. You might have better luck elsewhere though

Don't you mean 'misdemeanors' ? From previous posters I would assume that any black marks on your record are reason for rejection. But if you are American you can apparently get minor offences expunged from your record. Anyway it's good to see that Marsavalanche got his Avator/Profile Pic. How many posts does it take for such a privilege ?

OK..so I am well aware at this point that someone ( s) has seen/heard more of something ( s) from something that was never meant to be seen by ANY someones...( but that doesn't include NO ONE in this little synopsis).

Who was the intial 'though'? Shocked

If there is anything other than , "no derogatory comment" reported on your FBI check your visa application will be denied as a matter of policy.

China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Japan are options where an "out of state" check will suffice or is not necessary
.
Thailand MAY be an option provided you obtain your visa from OUTSIDE of the USA (US consulates check the CBC).

Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam are off the table as far as legal work goes if you have a positive finding on a "national" (required for a work visa) CBC.

Illegal work is always an option in Asia but the costs (visa runs to other countries and/or fines) and risks (detention and deportation in the worst cases) you bear are your own.

.

If you're from Britain, Australia or NZ and your crime or arrest charge is considered minor then it is wiped from your record after 7 years of no more arrests.

I'm not sure about Canada or South Africa but it does seem that the USA is the one country that retains old and 'minor' offenses on it's record keeping system.

The 7 year clause was introduced by the other countries because many people make mistakes when they are younger and it doesn't seem fair to put youthful indicretions against a person's name for life.

Only if you get a basic level disclosure, convictions will show up on an enhanced disclosure forever and ever.

I know someone with a record, nothing major, but he was accepted. It depends what it is and who you are submitting your docs to. But for the most part, korea want no record found.
