I posted this in the Martial Arts sticky but figured I would start a new thread with more traffic.
My buddy recently made this site: www.koreamartialarts.com
Gyms all over Korea, all different styles. There are sites for a lot of Korean gyms, but mostly in Korean. This site is a little 1990s, but should suffice and most people will use facebook anyways (koreamartialarts).
Send him your gym information if you get a chance so he can post it on the site. I came to Korea to teach and train martial arts but it took me forever to find a gym in my area that matched my schedule. And instead drank for the first couple of months.
I took up kickboxing after finding a gym with an English-speaking trainer and it changed my life for the better (down 30+ kgs). And I'm a huge proponent of Waygookins doing a martial art in their free time: Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, Judo, Tae-Kwon Do, whatever. And with Korea's UFC win, expect to see a lot more MMA talk throughout Korea.
I have come across numerous teachers who train, fight and compete in events in their own cities and throughout the country. And many who do it just for exercise. There are fights all over Korea in every art. I've had a couple in Korea and one on Thailand but my buddy fights monthly, and is looking for a championship fight this year.
.
(And, no, its not my site). I'm recently out of the country, hopefully for good, but we've all heard that before |
