There's a crummy little restaurant on the market street around the corner from where I live that does a good kimchi jiggae; there's always the same drunk Korean guy in the corner drinking makkoli who always offers me a glass. For some reason I've had my best kimchi jiggaes in Gangwon-do. |

된장 hands down. But it helps if it has shitake mushrooms and 냉이 in it, which is how i prepare it at home (when 냉이 is available) |

I'm not sure which are which, but I do like Kimchi Jigee and a good many others. Korea is pretty good at soup. |

Kimchi jigae and sundubu jigae are definitely tasty diner standbys.
But if we can get some tangs up in here, I am in love with oritang. It's the perilla seeds. They do it to me every time.
I also love me some yukgaejang at the diner.
It's 2pm and I haven't eaten yet so forgive me if I seem excitable. (Granted, I only woke up at 12:30. Thanks vacation.) |

Kimchi jjigae if it has generous cuts of fatty pork in it. I hate the kind with canned tuna in it (way too salty).
Budae jjigae is fun to eat once in a while, but it's way too salty and TERRIBLE for your health because it's full of processed meat and instant ramen noodles.
Sundubu jjigae with seafood and a raw egg in it is good too. I used to go to this restaurant that served oyster sundubu jjigae, which was delicious if you like oysters, and I do. |

biji jigae definitely needs to be up there, and despite the smell, cheongukjang jigae. |

I love biji jigae. At the first school I worked at there was a restaurant that made awsome biji jigae. I ate it a couple days a week. I haven't been able to find anything that compares since then. Soon doo boo is awsome too, especially at the tofu house places where you get a fried fish and theres a basket of eggs on the table. |

Doenjang chigae, (sorry, not sure about the spelling) though I can't seem to find a good place around here to get it. In my previous city, there was a tiny restaurant a block from my apartment that had a wonderful chigae, but I've tried it twice here and both places were way too salty, not to mention that it tried to claw it's way out of my stomach a few hours later. Not sure what was in that recipe, but I haven't tried to get it here again. |

My favorite is cheonggukjang (청국장). It's smelly and strong-tasting (when done right) and it's just the way I like it. |

Haejangguk, the world's best hangover food. I also love maeuntang and budae jjigae.
Least favorite Korean soup? Kongnamul. Yuck. |

거지양말찌개? That's pretty good stuff. I'm partial to kimchi jjigae. |
