you live in Korea right? With unrestricted downloads at lightning speed? 1080P files aren't too big!
Go large, go 42" Plasma, but first read some non biased US/European based reviews, google the product numbers! |

I do live in Korea... and fair enough... 1080p might not be too big, but the plasma I'm looking at only displays 720p. |

I've got the X-Canvas model that you mention. It's excellent, a real bargain. Be careful of screen burn/retention though, get the settings on low from the get go, and use the screen washes. |

I also have an LG 42 inch plasma, and it's great for movies, although, as the previous poster says, beware image retention/ghosting (don't think permanent screen burn is a problem these days) and use the screen washes, especially in the first 100 hours of use. I used to see bars from anamorphic widescreen at first when watching regular WS movies, but they would gradually fade, and now they don't show up at all any more. |

Just a couple weeks ago I bought a 42" LG LD450 from Homeplus for 1.1m. I have no complaints, looks great. Absolutely love the 1080p. I hook my laptop up to it and download/watch a lot of 1080p movies. The 720p tv shows look great too. |

I can't remember the rules of thumb, but depending on the distance you sit from the screen, the difference between 720 and 1080P is... nothing!
Don't get caught up on the pixels, it's about image quality, my old 42" plasma was 'only' 720P but it's 42"! we sat far away and the detail still looks amazing, PLUS anything you watch at SD (normal TV will look better on the 720 screen as it won't be as stretched out to fit 1080
The plasma kicked the lcds but in terms of dark blacks and giving a good steady picture, if it;s working out cheaper than a 1080 lcd I'd think twice!
any help? |

yeah, when I used to work at Best Buy in the states, we'd have them stand back and stare at a 720p and a 1080p. They always thought it looked the same.
Also, there's a special video/dvd that you can run for the first 50-100hrs to evenly age the phosphors helping to prevent any burn-in. |

My TV isn't very far away, perhaps 7 or 8 feet. I have tested it by downloading the same film in both resolutions. Without a doubt, there is a clear difference. But, that's just me. Everybody has their own eye for detail. My 720p tv shows still look great! But I always go for the 1080p content.
The plasmas in the store in the 700k won range were all very dark. I like a brighter screen, and the LCD's stepped up for that. But believe me, the price tempted me.
As long as you get something and have no regrets, it was a good purchase. |

Never buy under 'shop lighting' conditions, and never compare sets side by side like that, they've never been run in properly, and they're never calibrated/setup properly, or they're deliberately setup wrong so you buy the one they want you to buy, independent review sites is the only way to go!
But if you're happy you're happy thats ok! |

Just go with a wetwipe followed by a paper towel. Seriously, we used to rip off people left and right saying how those Monster cleaning solutions are the best thing in the world for hdtv's. If you really wanna ratchet it up a bit, then make a solution of your own consisting of distilled water and some 50% iso alcohol. |
