Well the teaching credential is more helpful for the actual job obviously.

But which one will help you get hired? I have both, so I don't if I'm the most accuracte person to weigh in here. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I want to say the credentials for those top 10% of jobs. But for the other 90%, I'd say the face.

Entry level jobs - the pretty face gets you farther.

Post Secondary positions - the credentials get you farther.

What ttompatz said.

However, a pretty face can sometimes be a negative. It all depends on the person in charge of the hiring process.

For example, the person in charge of hiring is a woman at my school. When we were looking for some new teachers and secretaries, she/they (the hiring committee- all women) purposely passed over the applications of all the attractive women. Confused

If you have got a teaching credential and you are fighting with the 22 year old newbs for entry level positions, then you need to step your game up dramatically. If you are certified/MA TESOL/Linguistics and you are applying for SMOE/GEPIK then you need to sort your life out. Rolling Eyes
