Hi everyone,

Although I've been lurking for a while now, I figured it's time to make my first posting on this forum. Smile

I am hoping to get some advice on my resume as I am beginning to compile it right now. I am aiming to apply for the August 2011 recruitment with KorVia.

As a recent university graduate, I haven't had much work experience directly related to teaching ESL, although I've signed up for a 100-hr TESOL online course.

I'm wondering which of these I should add/remove:

    - Paid Research Assistantships (I've had several during my undergrad study) -- some involved doing stats analysis (not really relevant), and for some I had to do library research, compile bibliographies, write lit reviews.. Wondering if I should mention this at all
    - Editor for an undergraduate journal (Unpaid; involved me reading and grading academic papers written by my peers in order to get them ready for publication)
    - Working at a bank? retail store?
    - Leadership awards and activities?

Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!

I've always tried to keep my resumes relevant to the positions you are applying for. Since you are fresh out of college, I wouldn't worry about showing gaps in employment history (Because you don't have any).

Getting your first job here does not require some magic combination of unrelated work experience. Lead with your education background. Follow that with your TESOL. Then list your employment history.

Don't over think the resume too much. You'll already have more than most applicants who are just coming out of college with no TESOL.
