Home = US
I've been using 00700 + phone number to call the US, its cheap I guess. I think its around 1,000 every two-four minutes.
Any other options? No Skype, since I don't have Paypal or a US CC. |

Skype is so cheap it is worth it to organize your finances so as to be able to pay them. There are several ways to pay Skype: credit card OR debit card, bank account, paypal.

Edit: Provide a link to methods of payment in Korea.

| You don't have to have a CC to use Skype, you can use a check card as well. If you have account, you most likely got a very important plastic card with a 4 digit pin number in a separate mailing. Having at least one type of Visa or Mastercard is so very important in today's e-money world. I can't stress enough how important a plastic card really has become. You wanna book a room or a flight before traveling? |

i used to buy phone cards in Itaewon before i got a decent computer. it was fairly cheap, maybe 200 won a minute, but it was a horrible thing to do.
OP, not to beat a dead horse here, but Skype is the way to go. it's like 2 cents a minute to call the US. you can also get an incoming (US) number for 60 bucks a year, so people back home can call you without paying long distance. |

Also, Skype to Skype is 100% free. I realize that some of the older relatives in our lives are not exactly computer literate, however. My dear old ma sure isn't. But for most others it's worth looking into.

This just uses your regular cell-phone minutes, treating it like a local call. |

| There is a Skype plan where you pay $2.95 for unlimited cell and landline calls to the US and Canada. Plus the free Skype to Skype option people have mentioned. |

$2.95? I don't think so. More like 5 euros a month. |

I buy Mission cards from the phone place outside Itaewon exit 3/4 - the one next to the Ankara kebab shop. The card is 10,000 - all I do is scratch off the back, call the number, enter the card number (just once, not every time) then call...
I get about 4 hours to a UK landline or about 90 mins to a mobile... |

Don't use that one..use my number
1688-1791.
If you have a contract phone (read: non pre-paid) then yes it uses your regular cell minutes to call the states, China, Guam, Thailand, Sweden, Germany, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The only restrictions are when calling Germany, Taiwan, or Sweden you MUST call land lines.
There's no cost to you period. |

I don't have PayPal or a US CC and I use Skype. Unlimited North America calling plan for about $30 per year. I call to people's landlines for hours every week, and yes, it amounts to about $3 per month. I'm even doing teleconferencing stuff for school with it. |
