Can anyone enlighten me to the pros and cons of this area?
I have some potential jobs on the table and this is one of them.
Thanks. |

I lived there for a while...it's pretty boring and it takes about $50 to get home from anywhere other than gangnam (which is about $35) if you're cabbing it. On the plus side, there's a really nice river pathway to run along, Shinsegae has good foreign groceries, and there's an EMart right there, too. So it could be worse... |

Living in the Bundang area isn't bad. Certainly not the spot for wild nightlife but it's a nice area. The cabs back from Seoul are manageable if you are with a group of mates. You can get buses that get you into Seoul/Gangnam in less than 40.
You're a few stops down the subway line from Seohyeon which is the center of the action for Bundang. It's where you'll find the foreigner hangouts of Pub 210,Traveler's and Dublin's.
All depends what you're after. |

If you're right near Jukjeon station it's decent. There's a Geckos Bar (yes, the same as the one in Itaewon) there, a nice area with some Cafes, the standard shopping (Emart), department store, movie theater. As mentioned, a little up the line there are the areas in Bundang: Seohyun being the main one.
The buses into Seoul are also not bad. The M4101 and 8100 get you to Seoul Station in well under an hour - and it's at the beginning of the line for both, so there will always be seats. The 8100 stops near Itaewon, so it's a cheap way to get in, if that's your thing. Last bus home leaves sometime just before midnight. You're also close to the Everland monorail connecting you to, well, Everland and downtown Yongin.
If you're into bicycling, you can bike up the river all the way to the Han river.. it should take a bit more than an hour from there, if you're motoring pretty well. It's also fairly well connected by roads, being near the intersection of the 1 and 50 highways, if you have a car.
All-in-all, not bad! You could do far, far worse! |

Cool. Doesn't sound so bad for a first gig.
I don't need to be in a party hot spot. I'll have friends in Seoul and Busan to meet up with when I want to shake my money-maker.
I'm more interested in biking and hiking than anything else, so having the river nearby is a plus. I want to be somewhere that's clean and offers some options for outdoor activities. Anything aside from the river that's worth checking out?
Thanks for the responses so far. |
