Hello!

My name is Daniel and I've lived in Korea for about 6 months now, with my job being (of course) teaching English (in a little city just to the East of Seoul).

Before coming here I was the singer in a group called Stand Still Kid back in England, we got played on BBC Radio 1 a couple of times and it was all going quite well until our drummer left and after that we couldn't get a proper replacement and thus it all stagnated a little...

It just so happens though that the guitarist/singer in that band and her boyfriend - who was also our bassist - have both recently got jobs in Bundang and so shall be moving here at the start of September (in about one week from now, actually).

We would, therefore, like to get another band going and so I was wondering if anyone knows any drummers or is indeed a drummer themself? Korean or otherwise, it's all the same to us, we just wanna make some music and play a few gigs, it's all good fun Smile

If you want to hear what some of our music back in England sounded like it can still be found at www.myspace.com/standstillkid - we would probably, however, want any new stuff we make to sound a little different to that - but still, it gives anyone interested an idea of what we did.

I look forward to hearing back from anyone interested, thanks for reading!

Bump! I got a PM from someone about this but it turns out that they read the original message a little too quickly and they actually live in Daegu which is a tiny bit too far! So anyone who is still interested, please reply or PM me Smile

Your best option is to drop by pubs in Itaewon or Hongdae and simply talk to people. There's an active waygook music scene in Korea, a drummer shouldn't be too hard to find. There might also be some information on Facebook. If you are in Itaewon drop by Woodstock.

I can hit the sticks pretty well, or used to be able to... but obviously I don't have my own set, soooo... am I in the band?

I'm a drummer, but I'm leaving in less than two months. Ever since I got here, though, I've wondered where the heck a person could practice. Seems you'd have to make friends with a business owner or something, because I doubt the residents in these hi-rise aparts would take too kindly to the noise.

I got the impression that there are 'music rooms' here that come equipped with; drums, bass, guitar, pa and amps and you can just roll up and hire them by the hour?

Maybe that is not the case though...if anyone knows a bit more feel free to share!
