My friend is coming to stay with me for a month while he looks at some schools. I want to get him a pre-paid phone (the kind where you just put 20,000w on it and use it until you run out) and have it all set up for him when he arrives.
1. Where can I pick up one up? (older or used is okay)
2. There's no contract or paper signing of any sort correct?
3. Do I need to bring my ARC and provide personal information like an address or anything?
Thanks for info you can provide. |
1 - Depends where you live, Most places I've seen will advertise "Card Phones" if they deal with them.
2 - There is an application to fill out, which leads me into..
3 - Yes, in my experiences you need to bring your ARC when you fill out the application. Some places may not even let you set up the phone if you already have a phone in your name. |

You can get them at a couple places in Itaewon (check the forum for more on that). Or check for T-Free offices in your town (if you're not in Seoul).
They will cost you about 23-30 k Won for the phone and then how ever much credit you want to put on them. You don't need an ARC but some kind of ID (like a passport).
Most regular cell phone shops won't set you up with prepaid unless you buy a new phone (in which case you'd probably be better off getting a monthly plan). |
