Hey all -

I brought a bottle of foundation with me that would have lasted two years, but it mysteriously vanished a few months ago. With the winter weather, my skin has gone crazy (almost never had blemishes in the States!!). So...I need foundation and concealer.

I have fairly olive skin, with green undertones. Even in the States, I had a hard time finding foundation that didn't make me look pink and plastic-y. Here, it feels hopeless. Does anyone have recommendations for stores that would sell make-up to match my skin-tone at a fairly reasonable price? I live in Busan, if that helps.

Thank you!

I have very pale but olive toned skin and I find the darker (#2) BB cream from Skin Food works well for me.

I used the Agave which has medium coverage and is a little bit darker. Now I am using the Peach Sake kind. It's a little sheerer than I normally like, but I am layering it under powder and that creates perfection. Good luck.

I'm pretty picky about foundation. However, there is always relief in clinique (for me anyway) which you can find at lotte department stores and probably in other places. It was the miracle to my skin in terms of breakouts because it's fragrance free and good for sensitive skin.

Also, you might check out body shop? I noticed they have a whole line of mineral foundations and there seemed to be more variety in the colors they offer.

What brand of foundation were you using before that you brought with you to Korea? Maybe you can buy more through Ebay or Amazon.
Or go to the big department store like Lotte, Hyundai or Shinsegae and let the make-up counter people find a match for you. I also love Clinique and MAC.

Already mentioned, Clinique and Body Shop.

Lotte has a nice selection of cosmetic counters if you're thinking of higher end stuff.

Good luck!

Estee Lauder, Clinique, Benefit and Bobby Brown are all good choices. Don't forget to ask for samples...they'll always give you 3 or 4 samples even if you just buy a 25 000 won lipgloss. Join their mailing list or point clubs too - you'll get free sample invitations every few months through the mail. Very different to NZ where you have to spend over a set amount (usually $80 - $100) to get anything extra.

I was using Olay Definity, I think. Actually it was ridiculously overpriced, but that was when I had my credit card. Embarassed So I've been needing to find a new brand anyway.

I ended up going to a store called Minimall that's like this weird windowless department store with one store on each floor. My co-teacher recommended it. The make-up store was like heaven. I was frolicking with the best of them. And the sales associate did an excellent job at getting me to spend my money.

The foundation is a little heavier than I'd like but I think I'll cut it with some moisturizer. It's called "Emprani ray shot long fit foundation SPF34 PA++" and the slogan is "making 4D-angle of face & super longlasting fit". my shade is 02, whatever that is, and it's pretty darn close to the right shade (just slightly too pink but it's fine when applied lightly).

The best thing I got, though, is the concealer. It's a little compact that has cream concealer (and a little brush) as well as powder (and a slightly bigger brush). It's by Laneige and it's called "Dark Circle Concealer Kit", number 1. The best is its slogan: "The Secret of Snow Crystal". Laughing It's shiny. I like it.

Thanks all for the great recommendations!

I have yellow toned skin so find it hard getting makeup to match me too as I hate the pink tones...however, Hera (quite a high-end brand but not too expensive) has some great foundations and powders, I highly recommend them. BB creams are great aswell, providing you find ones without grey/pink undertones (I've had luck with Legere, Lioele and Missha).
