So after visiting a friend teaching in Seoul I was offered a job at the school she was teaching at. The owners of the school, who are really awesome, were not informed of the new rules regarding the national CBC, apostille, etc. So after sending all my documents over, they took them to the embassy and were told that I needed to take my documents to the Korean embassy here in the states with this form that was sent back. The form just says E-2 at the top and has a lot of Korean writing on it with a couple boxes highlighted. I called the embassy and the guy I talked to really didn't seem to know what the form was and just asked that I fax it to him tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it isn't some way of getting around the new regulations. So I guess that I need to start the process of doing the FBI check.
My question is, is there any way to get some sort of provisional visa or any way to get around it for now? I'm supposed to start March 1st but obviously having to start all over with this paperwork will take longer than that. I have family here that can get the apostille done. If I read correctly, since I live close to DC, I can just go have it done that day instead of mailing it and waiting, correct? I'm also wondering if the process would be shortened because I've had an FBI check before. When doing clinicals for nursing school I was fingerprinted and checked to work at the VA hospital here.
Any help would be appreciated as well as some information on anything I might be forgetting in order to come and teach. Hoping that I can make this happen. I've been keeping touch with the owners through email and they're seeing what they can do from their end. |
