I'm on an SK contract for my smart phone.

I'm outside of Korea for holiday. I still want to use my phone for games, alarms, clocks, calculator, etc..

If I turn off the wireless, turn off the 3G, turn off the blue tooth, turn off the GPS, will I still be charged roaming or anything above the normal monthly fee?

While I have no experience with Korea specifically, I don't see why you'd be charged. For just "standby" (ie: no internet browsing, texting or calls) there are usually no roaming charges.

I'm pretty sure you could leave the WiFi and Bluetooth on as well...GPS depends on what kind of system it is...most get info from online maps, so leave that turned off if you want to avoid roaming data charges.

Also, if it's a SIM card phone and you have an old/inactive card kicking around, toss that in there. That's what I do when I want to use an old phone as an alarm clock/camera...

I was home recently. I'm with KT, but I'm sure things work about the same. Airplane mode or similar on ur phone is best. As mentioned, free wi-fi hotspots will cost u nothing. for the iphone, there r "push notifications" for games and other apps, so make sure the similar is disabled on ur phone. Again, if "roaming" is off, u should b fine...when i got a msg in Toronto from KT saying that msgs would b 200won per and calls would b 2,000won per, i believe minute, I knew roaming was definitely not needed.
