Hey all.

I still have my old Korean driver's licence from the last time I taught here. It has my old ARC number on it but it's not set to expire until 2017. Is it still good or should I go get another one? I'm a Canuck so getting a driver's licence here isn't really a big deal.

Thanks.

Should be fine. I've been through a few ARCs since I got my license, and I know it's still valid.

You are fine until its expiry but you may want to update your file with your new ARC (if indeed your ARC has changed).

The ARC number is the one underneath your name on the front of the card.

Anyone have an idea of where you can switch your Canadian drivers licence into a Korean one here in Busan/Yangsan.

What are the steps involved to switch it over.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's good news. I thought I might need a whole new licence. Now I'll just need to find the DMV in Seoul once I get my new ARC.

Sorry, I was under the impression that for some reason you had been issued a new ARC with a new number (strange but happens occasionally when people change regions (Busan to Seoul) or does happen to dual nationals who change country of passport between sojourns in Korea.

Chances are that your number will be the same (almost guaranteed to be the same if you were in and returned to Gyeonggi / Seoul).
