|
|
I've noticed that whenever my Korean mates and I go out to eat that the spicyness of the chili in the dishes I enjoy eating cause our lips to become puffy and purple.
Am I alone here or anybody else notice this phenomenon?
It's got me wondering why I'd eat something that disfigures me. Then again the whole idea of chilli, food that causes discomfort, being popular is kind of bizarre anyhows. |

Koreans grossly exaggerate the spiciness of their food. Sure a lot of it IS spicy, but none of it can really kick your arse like Indian or Mexican food.
The restaurant ajummas always warn me with "may-wah-yo, may-wah-yo" but I used to eat much hotter food back in Canada. Koreans are sure their food is the spiciest in the world even though they've never tried anything but Korean food. |

Oh for sure, I agree completely that it isn't the spiciest food in the world. Compared to Australia though, they have many more spicy dishes on offer though. So I never noticed the chilli effect on lips until I was in Korea, since I was eating it there all the time.
No-one else has seen this occur? I'm starting to worry about myself here ^^;; |
