I've received a GEPIK job offer, and I'm wondering how long I have to accept it. I'm still holding out on a couple other positions, but I'm afraid if I wait I may lose my spot. I've also asked to speak to the current teacher at the school.
I read on my GEPIK application that schools will move away from a candidate if they take more then a single day to decide. Should I be worried about taking 2 or 3 days (and hopefully speaking with their teacher) before I decide? |

IT depends.
If it is with GEPIK (and not directly with a Gyeonggi school) then positions are filled "first acceptance - first taken".
If you were recruited by a school directly then it will last until they find another warm body.
If it is with GEPIK you may not even know where you are going / won't be assigned a school until just about the last minute (at orientation).
If it is direct to a school there may not be a foreigner to talk to and even if there is it may all change in February when the staff Korean staff change-over occurs (PS schools rotate 20% of their Korean staff every year to/from other schools). A change in the co-teacher, Principal or VP can drastically change the job environment.
The good news is that unlike at a hakwon (where you NEED to talk to the foreigner about things like pay, pension, medical, etc) those issues should be a non-issue in a PS and if there is a problem there is a means to get it corrected.

Yeah, I understand that GEPIK jobs are all pretty similar; I applied directly with the school (through a recruiter), and I have already had an interview with a teacher there. |
