I am working in China now. I am coming to Seoul to stay with a friend towards the end of the month. When I was in Japan in 2008 a young Korean guy said it was possible to live in Seoul leave early and go skiing and come back the same day. He told me it was possible to get snowboarding lessons in English. I would love to try this. Is it possible? Please tell me.

There are several mountains that can be reached in under 3 hours via Bus from Seoul. The ski resorts will even offer free buses from Seoul to get Seoulites to buy lift tickets. Three I know of leave Jamsil around 630AM and return around 5PM on both Saturday and Sunday; High 1, Oak Valley, and Yong-pyong. The last, Yongpyong, has English lessons. Never received a lesson, but noticed a group of people being instructed in English, so they have it there for sure. Good luck.

Try Jisan. It's about an hour or so away from Seoul. They have a NET on staff who teaches skiing, etc. in English. I'm not sure if they teach snowboarding in English, mind you.

It's easy! Keep your knees bent (helps with balance), lean back to stop/slowdown (turning horizontal to the slope is good too, and point the board in a diagonal direction (not straight down!).

I learned to snowboard in 1 day and I am not a sporty kind of guy. Skiing on the other hand... I did it once and never did it again... haha
