Due to a number of miscommunications, I did not send Form 8802 to the IRS to request form 6166 until late October.
Here we are in mid-January and still no form. My co says I must have the form by Jan. 19 or I must pay all taxes from the past year.
What's the general consensus on this? Can they make me pay taxes? Shouldn't they have been taking taxes since they didn't have the form in the first place?
Any way out of paying the taxes (about 2000USD)?
*Fingers crossed*

I got here in September of 2009 and didnt hand my tax form in until August 2010 (not that I didnt try earlier as I applied for it back in March of 2010).
Unless things have changed, I'm sure your school should be able to do this too. In fact, if my form had not come by December of 2010, my school would have made me pay back taxes for all of 2010 only, not 2009. |
