| yea I've seen more and more Koreans using Facebook. Cyworld is kind of childish looking, too, I can see why. |

It also doesn't evolve. It looks exactly the same today as it did the first time I saw it like five years ago, which is an eternity for the internet.
Facebook is aggressively pursuing the Asian market. I have a friend who works at Facebook, and his job description is essentially to find ways to attract more Asian users. |

about damn time.
on a semi-related note, I watched SBSCNBC the other day and saw a program lauding Naver as a contender to 'TGiF' Twitter, Google, iPhone (that's right- a device), & Facebook. I laughed. |

Not sure how much of a following FB will get, it maybe able have a niche market (10%). But I don't see it catching on on mass. Cyworld is basically entrenched for anyone under 30. Virtually every single girl under 30 has a cyworld page and probably 70% of them update it on a regular basis.
Although I do see twitter finding some success, there is no Korean equivalent. |

I think once more people start using smartphones, they'll hop on facebook.
All my Korean friends started a facebook profile, because they could get the app on their iphone. |

A few of my Korean friends started a FB profile too, but none of them are active on it. After the initial few days, they've ignored it ever since. Tried to get some students to check it out, again same story, of about 30, only 1 is active.
On the other hand, about 5 of them are constantly using twitter. |

| it's popular with Korean kids who have lived overseas and have come back to Korea. They use it obviously to keep in touch with friends that they have made in America and use it quite often. With more Koreans traveling abroad and making foreign friends it might grow. It'll be interesting to see. |
