|
|
I just received an e-mail offering me a job in Seoul, and now I am most confused. I've kept records of all schools I've applied to, and e-mail addresses I've sent applications to, and I have no record that I have sent anything to this school or e-mail address. Furthermore, the e-mail asks for my passport photo page, but I include that in an attachment I send to every prospective employer.
I guess what I'm wondering is if I'm being overly paranoid here. How the heck did this person get my info if I didn't send it to him? If I did send it to him, why doesn't he have my passport page? Is this terribly unusual? |

Probably a recruiter gave it to him.
Have you sent anything to a recruiter? |

Some recruiters work amongst an association of other recruiters. ie., one recruiter operates the website and marketing that generates teachers' applications, then he sends them out to his network of recruiters that find and work with schools. So having someone in that network miss your passport photo, may not be a big deal. But, even if your resume/photo was forwarded to him by another recruiter, they base their hiring decisions more on the photo and citizenship, before the resume, so if anything, I could see them missing a resume, not a photo.
It might be an oversight on their part. Recruiters are not know for their email management skills, so you might have gotten all or part of one of their canned responses.
Anyways, just ask him about why he doesn't already have it, as you submitted earlier and see what he says. |

Or one of the places you sent it gave it to a friend/reletive who also owns a hogwan.

Lost it, forgot to give it to the friend/reletive, gave it but the friend/reletive lost it, etc.
Most of these guys are not rocket scientists. I don't think anything terribly crazy is going on here. |

| Yeah, I'm beginning to think it's a recruiter. I e-mailed the guy back, sent him my passport page and asked him for information on the school and job. I figure even if it is a recruiter, I can check the job out. If it still seem fishy, I'll pass and keep on looking. |

Homer, I'm usually paranoid by nature, but it's even worse at 6:30 in the morning.
I don't think it's anyone trying to hunt me down, but you never know |
