I'm nearly out of pages in my passport for stamps. Do I simply visit the US embassy and go through a process there? Or is there a different procedure? Thanks |

Yup, go to the embassy. Bad news tho - it used to be free, but now I believe they charge some sort of exorbitant fee for it, north of $50. |

you don't even need to go to the embassy, you can do it all online. just send your passport into them. |

1. How long does it take them to do it if you show up? Is it a long wait?
2. How many pages do they give you for the 82 bucks? |

1) I did it prior to the pay system, but basically, you show up, wait for maybe twenty or thirty minutes, give them your passport, then they mail it back to you a couple days later (or, if you have more time than money, you can go pick it up).
2) They basically double the size of the standard US passport, giving you as many new clean pages as you started with. |

Is that fee outragous or what? $82 for some pages.
I've got about 20 months on my old passport and I'm down to about 4 pages. It makes you wonder if they aren't just trying to bump people into a new passport for a bit more? |

No - off the top of my head, I think it's like $140 (could be wrong) but it's close enough you start to cohtenplate just getting a new one. |

not in the slightest. i just got stung for a whopping 350 bucks for a new oz passport as a result of the old one being full (in spite of still having another 7 years left until it expires). you americans have got it lucky. |

Dude,just to clarify -
$82 for 24 notebook sized pieces of paper is a rip- off.
In sympathy though, you are getting really screwed by your government.
Lovely, new Prime Minister though..... |
