Is anyone familiar with this area and know what it's like to live or work there? Is it a little run down, nice, or average? Obviously Mapo is a solid central location, and this particular spot is pretty much in the middle of the triangle that forms between lines 5 and 6, if that makes sense.

Good, I guess it sounds good. Any elaboration on Zappadelta's summary? I know it's in a good central location but there is literally nothing about this dong on this board or anywhere else that I kind find. If someone knows any particulars about this dong it would be much appreciated.

Now it sounds horrible. May I ask what makes it good? I'm happy to go back and forth until I get the 25 posts then I'll become your new best PM buddy and invite you out to all the goodness going on in Yonggang-dong when I get there. Or am I encroaching upon one of these secret veteran hot spots and should simply respond with the winking, "I gotcha" emoticon on the left?

Location location location.

There is nothing special about the place except it's CENTRAL to everything. You're going to be at most 20-30 minutes away from pretty much every single place in Seoul. You're right by Seoul Station, City Hall, Gwhangwhamun, cheap cab rides away from Hongdae and Itaewon, even Gangnam would only be 10,000 won on a late night.

Friend of mine lives down the street from the area you're talking about - loves it.

Mapo subway area is a business district, quiet, relaxed and a very nice spot to live. Close to everywhere as people said and has some nice places to eat, close to Han river, yeouido etc.

It a very nice area as others have said, due to it's location. Mapo subway station would be your closest.

Thank you for the responses, especially those with a description sans simple idiom; always stepping on someone's toes here. Indeed, location x3, which was the source of my inquiry. It's good to know you have a friend who lives there and loves it. Also the area being a "business district, quiet, relaxed and a very nice spot to live," is right what I was looking for.
The teacher I spoke with said similar things, and the school seems Korean teacher dominated and lax with whitey, which is also good, I guess. I appreciate the information though.
