So I went in to get my fingerprints done for my FBI check.

I took a Korean friend to help translate. The officer seemed to know the routine and had me inked up and ready to go. Once finished he took a big stamp and stamped right in one of the places that says "leave blank."

I was trying to stop him the whole time, but he just kept brushing me off. My Korean friend said "He's supposed to stamp there. They are going to check it."

His stamp was very official and all, but the space said leave blank. I went ahead and mailed it, but man, I may have just waisted it.

Any thoughts?

Chances are it's an office error at worst. The likelihood of it getting rejected because of something like that is minimal. The better question is, why didn't you snatch it before he had a chance to do it?

The above poster is probably right.

If I were in your situation, I'd just go and get it done again at another police station and spend the extra $18 as insurance.

I called the FBI office in WV. She said there's no way to tell until it's been in their system for a while. Which is anywhere from 9 to 12 weeks from now.

I wouldn't feel so bad about it except when I mailed it I sent it priority so it was like W16,000. And the FBI is going to charge me the $18 regardless if it's good or not.

Man, I think I just pissed $34 away. That really bums me out Sad

You'll probably know before that. I recently had my FBI check done and it came back in about three weeks.

If you don't mind a couple of questions, northway....

What payment method did you use? (I wonder if it makes a difference to do credit card vs money order.)

Did you do anything in particular to speed up the process, ie contacting a Congressperson?

Thanks!

I also received mine 3 weeks after I sent it in. The payment I used was a money order and I did nothing to speed up the process - just sent it in via regular mail (from the US). Needless to say I was very, very surprised when my mom called to tell me that the finished product had arrived in the mail.
