OK so i'm scratching my head a bit on how to set up my cables. Hope someone can give me some pointers.
I want to connect my PS3 through my receiver via HDMI (enabled audio) because my receiver's optical audio port is already taken.
My receiver has:
HDMI 1 IN
HDMI 2 IN
HDMI OUT (is already running to TV)
TV has:
HDMI 1 (taken via laptop DVI to HDMI)
HDMI 2 (taken via HDMI OUT)
HDMI 3
HDMI 4
Can i connect HDMI from PS3 to HDMI 1 on the receiver? Means i need to set HDMI 1 on my receiver and then set the HDMI setting on TV to whatever HDMI out is connected to? I haven't been able to do trial by error because i need to get a power strip hehehe. |

No home theater pro's here.
Actually what i proposed didn't work because the TV is taking the HDMI Out. So i just did HDMI straight to TV and enabled the TV speakers...oh well. |

Here's my setup. Should work the same for you.
HDMI 1 - Cable box
HDMI 2 - PS3
HDMI 3 - Computer
Component 1 - Wii
I am not using optical audio. I use HDMI for both video and audio. I turn the receiver on to HDMI 2. I turn tv on and select HDMI 2 to play PS3. PS3 plays and audio runs through theater speakers.
Is your TV wall mounted? If so, you should drill a hole behind tv and just above floor level. Wife loves it. No visible wires. |

I'm assuming these HDMI are running from your devices to the receiver. How many HDMI Out do you have running from receiver to TV though? You'd need corresponding HDMI out i think no? |

All devices have HDMI to receiver. You only need one HDMI out from receiver to the tv. You just change the input via remote control for what ever device you want to use.
Which brand is your receiver? Try to find an English manual. It's pretty straightforward. |
