I got my E2 visa last month. I still haven't applied for my ARC. I plan to do it just before I go away to Thailand for a week.

Will it be a problem travelling without the ARC, in light of the fact it won't be processed in time for my trip? Anything to do with multiple entry technicalities I should know about?

No ARC means you are not a registered foreigner.
Leaving will cancel your visa.

You cannot now (and never could) get a re-entry permit without an ARC.

I hope your tickets are refundable or changable or you can get your medical done quick enough to get an ARC. (with a bit of groveling and an air-ticket in hand they can process your ARC in a day or so).

.

Might be a problem travelling without a passport. They hold it while they process your ARC.
