Hi all,
I'm going to be in S. Korea this year-- leaving in 12 days-- and will be teaching English. I plan on traveling outside of Korea and was wondering if I should purchase Expat health insurance? If so, what's a reasonable deductible and do you have trusted and reliable insurers to go through. I am an American.
Thank you! |

If you plan to travel outside of South Korea, personally I would recommend you to purchase travel insurance but only for the duration of your trip outside of South Korea. If you are going to be enrolled in the national heath care plan here, that should be sufficient enough.
I purchased travel insurance twice here. The first time I bought travel insurance from a travel agency when I bought a flight to Vietnam. The insurance provider was Chartis (South Korea). It was cheap and the terms of the coverage were not that great but sufficient enough. The second time I purchased travel insurance through World Nomads (www.worldnomads.com). I've paid much more for it but the coverage was way more extensive. That being said, I recommend World Nomads (despite the higher costs). |
