|
|
so, I am heading to Japan for a short (4) day trip
Departure Date 01/20/2011
Return Date 01/23/2011
But I am travelling with a couple of kids.
So, I purchased travel /medical insurance,
However - IF one of us has an accident and gets taken to the hospital - who pays the hospital? Do I have to pay upfront? or will the insurance company take care of the hospital fees?
Do I have to pay, then get reimbursed after I make a claim from the Insurance company? or do I just show my travel/medical insurance to the hospital - and the hospital/and or insurance company takes care of it?
I ask, because being winter and icy and slippery on the streets, if one of us gets him by a car, the hospital costs could be HUGE.
I am covered up to USD$1,000,000 - but I don't have a lot of money to give the hospital, then make a claim afterwards.
Who pays the hospital directly? me or the insurance company?
or do I just phone their 24 Hour Emergency Assistance at the hospital and they take care of the hospital fees?
p.s. - I purchased the insurance via an internet site -

The insurance company answered my questions -
We are emailing you regarding your question about who pays the hospital bills if a medical emergency should arise.
The policies are on a reimbursement state. However, if there is a very large covered medical claim, the insurance company will make arrangements to pay the necessary medical expenses. They will ask if you have any other way of paying for the medical expense, such as a credit card. The reason for this is the insurance company would need to verify that the reason for the medical claim is a valid and covered claim. |
