Two trains on subway line No. 2 in Seoul stopped operating temporarily yesterday morning because an overhead wire that powers the trains malfunctioned, officials said.
Seoul Metro said bitter cold weather could have caused the problem.
One train stopped at 6:50 a.m. en route from Mullae Station to Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. Seoul Metro immediately mobilized mechanics and finished repair work at 7:40 a.m. The train restarted right after.
But at 8:05 a.m., another train stopped at the same spot and a repair team worked for 35 minutes until the train restarted.
Meanwhile, all trains between Sindorim Station and Hongik University Station were ordered to stop until the repair work was completed.
The single problem spot caused a long back up on line No. 2 and it was 9:30 a.m. before all trains were operating as usual.

Anyone end up in the middle of that mess? |

Sindorim Station is insanity on a normal day. I can't imagine being there when the #2 line shuts down. |

My girlfriend was. That's her exit stop (transfer to Line 1), but she couldn't even leave the train because the crowd pushed her straight back onto it again. |

Just another example of how envious, evil Koreans are trying to make life hell for foreigners. Trying to make us all late to work... psh. |

Every time the subway stops now I'm wondering if it's going to be another train stuck like the one in the original article.

I'm not sure I subscribe to that conspiracy theory but you have a right to your opinions. |

I think it's a cover - they announced earlier this week they'd stop some runs because of excessive power drain on the grid because of the cold weather. No bad wires, just paying too much for electricity, so you sit idle for a spell and they can save money |
