|
|
Just moved into a place at the beginning of December. Pipes have now frozen three times, despite constantly running hot water and leaving the heat on day and night (and spending plenty of money, as I'm sure it will turn out).
The third time was a week ago. Since then I have had four repairmen in here working for hours. The fourth one just left. The landlord called me and said none of them can figure out what's wrong. "I don't know what to tell you..." he said.
I've started to get a little impatient with all this, so I rather snidely asked him if I should be looking for a new apartment where this doesn't happen. The scary thing is he didn't even discourage it.
What the hell do I do here?? It's the middle of winter and I either have to boil several pots of water in order to 'shower,' or I have to go to a friends' place to do laundry.
I like this place otherwise and don't want to go through the hassle of moving again. It doesn't seem like I should have to. I mean... if I leave, will a tenant NEVER have hot water or water for the washing machine AGAIN??

I feel your pain, man. I've been having the same problems. Just now it's not a bother since I'm on holiday but the thought of returning to that frozen box isn't nice. Try staying a motel for one night at weekends, one with a bath, and at least give yourself a good soak for one time a week. I've also been doing the boiling pots of water thing and it's crap. |

Haha, on Tuesday, my pipes for my washing machine exploded and imploded at the same time. They were in my wall so nothing good came from it. I only noticed when I had enraged people knocking at my door politely.
Turns out the water had leaked all the way to the guys below me and flooded their apartment, clothes etc. I was taken down there with the building owner and just stood around for a few minutes saying 'mulayo, mulayo...? mulayo' and then pointed at my watch to go to work after giving the number for my boss.
About an hour later I was informed it was all fixed. They basically made a big hole in my wall, removed all the piping and put new ones in, then cemented it over with black cement. Bit weird having people skulking around my apartment while I'm at work but meh. I'm only missing 700,000 won. One less ivory back-scratcher. |
