|
|
Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone from the UK has ever managed to get anywhere with the pension problem. UK citizens aren't entitled to the pension refund, or, as I understand it, to ever claim the pension. However, I have heard that there is a way of having your Korean payments count towards your UK state pension. Has anyone heard of this ever actually happening?
Also, once one marries a Korean, can one then claim the pension, or does nothing change?
Thanks for any advice on this. |

Things may have changed since I last looked into this, but as far as I know we don't see any money back until retirement age. |

So we do get it after retirement age? |

Yes I'm wondering the same thing. However, I heard retirement was going to be abolished sometime after the next budget so don't worry yourself. |

|

I'm a Brit working at a university and have been put on a private pension this year (this enables them to get out of giving severance pay apparently). I'm going to be leaving my current job next month and called the pension office to see if I could claim a lump sum. Apparently I can! I pressed them for quite a while and they were quite adamant that my nationality only matters in the case of state pension.
In the end I suppose it's just what I would have got in severance from another job, but still.. maybe other Brits could exploit it more. |

Private pensions are NOT an option for most (labor law).
