i had an E2 and am now in Thailand to get my Ei. The question I have is when I told them at the airport that I would be getting an E1 in Thailand they took my Alien Registration Card and since someone told me I needed the ARC to get the E1 stamp in Thailand. I have no copy of the ARC?????? Will I have a problem?

You do NOT need your ARC to get a new visa.

You are changing visa status (E2 to E1) so your old visa is canceled (hence your need to give them your ARC).

You will get a new ARC after you get back with your new status of sojourn (E1) and depending on your contract either a 1 or a 2 year visa).

In Thailand you will need:

passport
visa confirmation number
passport type photo
application
application fee (around 2500 baht)

.

Lucky dog! Wish I was there with you!

Kaosahn Road has 4 dollar a night guest houses that are quite nice. Try to go south to Koh Samui and look for a guest house that has bongs inside the table for your to enjoy! Northern elephant trips are alot of fun too! Get real adventurous go to Laos- the country is still preserved much as it was 100s of years ago--great place, but be careful if do go!
