...if I hear just one more contestant on Arirang TV's 'The Contenders' thank their crappy school for allowing them to have time off to attend the show's taping. Seriously, anyone who does so must have the mentality of a slave. You don't hear contestants on Jeopardy saying stupid sh*t like that, right? Why do contestants on this show continue to do this?

"I'd like to thank Julie, our supervisor from Wonderland, for allowing us to have the time off to be here today."

Thank the bloody woman on your own time. Doing it on national TV just shows how much of a chump you are.

'Nuff said.

I thought they did it because if they win, they'll have to ask for another day off?

I always thought it was a condition for getting the day off:
"Can I have a day off to go on a tv game show?"
"Business is very bad. You can't have a day off now."
"But it'll be good for business. It will be very good for the image of the school."
"Okay. But make sure you say the school's name on air."

because jeporday doesn't ask their contestants if they want to say anything to anyone that is watching...

the sad part is that this show is Arirang's best show....

I think they do it to appease their cruel korean masters. Jeopardy people do say "hi" to family on air- but even the military ones in uniform dont say "Thanks GWB for giving me the time off to come here".

When I asked permission of my college to appear on a TV series (as a regular, not a one time appearance) they said, "Okay, but our college name will appear under your name at the beginning of the show." So, during the studio portion of the program when 'reporter' or 'announcer' was printed below everyone else's name, "xxx Health College Instructor" was printed below mine.

Employees in Korea are considered property more or less.

My old boss said she owned my English rights in Korea.

I thought she only owned the ones she paid for.

So you can curse anyone you want in English and then when they go to sue you you can say, "Sorry, those words belong to my boss. Bring your lawsuit to him." Smile

Ah, that was a lame joke . . . . . . . Sad

Not a bad idea...If you were on a roll on the game, and you already knew you had the vacation (which you could use as your midnight run ticket)...it would be a great time to slag the school!! Any school that would require that kind of thing sux...

"We'd like to say 'hi' to all our colleagues and students at _______ school in _______."

Fine.

"Well, we want to say 'thank you' to ________ (our slave-masters) at _______ for giving us time off today to be here."

As Flavor Flav once said, you deserve a smack for that.

Hi, my name is Knobjockey.

Before we start we would just like to thank WonderECCGnBSLPland for letting us be here today. Without this suck-up we would be docked 100 000 won pay so is my knob far enough up there yet Wink
