26 people so far, only 5 seats left from Seoul. No chance for more. |

Going to Jeju they check your passport when you're getting on the plane. Coming back we have to go through immigration. I've done it 5 times, they may except your Arc card but why take the chance. Also if you want to go to the duty free shop you must have your passport to buy something. |

That's understandable.
They did accept my ARC. What's an ARC card? |

Never had to go through Immi, I just walked on through. Then again, I was there for 10 hours on business. |

I've been to Jeju twice and they never needed my passport either time, just ARC card. |

Is an "ARC card" an "Alien Registration Card card"? |

For the record, it's still frakkin' cold in Jeju. It'll be even colder on the mountain.
There is nothing vacation-like about this excursion.
It will be Hell, friends. It will be Hell. |

Why not just call it "ARC"? |

Sometimes it could be quit mild in Feb. other times it can be real cold.
Every mountain every three months, that's what I say. The Olle courses should be a little windy but no snow. Halasan has two feet or two meters of snow these days.
Checkout the pictures from Feb visits.

It's colder this year than normal. This is true everywhere and Jeju is no exception.
I'm just letting the kids know in case they have expectations of escaping the frigid mainland conditions. We've been getting pretty high winds (IMO) and a deal of snow or sleet. It doesn't stick, but it hits you in the face. It's hard because the winds are umbrella destroyers. |

Until You have been to the peak in winter you can never imagine what you might have missed. If you are too scared and not smart enough to dress for the weather then you should stay home. But the rest of jeju will be wonderful and worth seeing.
For good hiking gear stores your best bet is to remember that everything goes on sale, so never pay full price!!
In Seoul if you go to the Jongno5(0)-ga Station on line 1 and exit gate 5, walk about 50 meters, there's a Black Yac store that always has stuff on sale. If you continue walking down the block , there are more stores. Turn right at the corner and continue walking. You'll run into a Lowl Alpine Store and another Black Yac Store. Turn right again and make your way back to the station and you'll find a Mellit Store and a Nepa Shop. There are so many stores in this area. Make your way toward Dogdaimun and you'll find more.
In Bucheon, right at exit 8 or 9 of Bucheon Station next to the Face Shop, there is a very cheap sports wear shop. Many things on sale. Winter pants 10,000, vest 10,000, jackets 19,000, shell jackets 29,000. The quality may not be the best but they'll do the job and look good. The pants are good for the fall and spring but for the winter I would wear a pair of those black subway tights. Those 2,000 won subway hats that cover your face are not bad to have either.
As you hike with us in the future we will stop by shops that like our club and offer special discounts to our members. |
