Not sure about Ireland. Probably, if they have a GSM provider, since KT will unlock the phone when you leave.
As for what to get, it depends on your needs. Is your laptop mobile enough for you? (i.e. is it easy to take with you, carry in your bag etc.)? Do you mind carrying around 2 devices in your pocket (phone + mp3)?
The iphone is a very nice phone, but like everything else, it has problems (cant change the battery, cant install apps from usb, cant expand storage). Also, for buying the iphone, you either have to get a Korean to get the 2 year contract for you, or buy one outright, which is expensive.
My recommendation, if you're set on the iphone, is to get a used 3gs from craigslist or something. Not that expensive and you wont have to worry about a 2 year contract. I like the convenience of everything I want in one device. I personally have an android phone, and am very happy. I also own an ipod touch which I haven't used since I got my phone. The ipod touch is very nice as well, but my android does the same things, and thanks to a microSD it has a lot more storage space. |

Don't buy the iPad because a new one will be out in the U.S. by April and probably here by Summer. Dunno if that helps your decision at all ^^ |

I stand corrected. Had old information. Thanks for setting both of us straight! |
