I'm studying for my MA online and I was curious about how easy (or even possible?) it is to gain access to the university libraries in Seoul.
My MA is in Applied Linguistics, so if anybody has any experience accessing books in this area that would be grand.
Thanks! |

I don't know about checking books out, but you can access the Seoul National University Libraries for free. They don't check ID, just walk in and start studying. Also, Kyunghee University. |

You can deposit your ID (ARC, passport, or DL) at the front desk of SNU Main Library (on 3rd fl., not ground floor) and get a temporary pass to the book shelves. You can read, make photocopies, but you can't borrow.
The National Library requires that you sign up online first, get your ID verified at Membership Office when you visit the library for the first time, and then obtain daily passes from a terminal afterwards.
District libraries are under SMOE management, and you show up at one of them to fill out a registration form to get your library card, provided that you live in Seoul and it is indicated as such on your ARC. Single card gives you access to all other SMOE district libraries, and you can loan books from these libraries. |
