I am in the states on vacation and want to get an Xbox or PS3. I am considering whether or not I should just wait and buy something pre-modded.

Is it possible to get an X-Box or PS3 thats already modded in Seoul?

Or, can I buy one here and bring it to one of the guys in Yongsan to mod it for me?

Any thoughts on which is a better buy in regards to the ease and stability of modding? I DO NOT CARE about any features on the console except for playing games. I don't need a DVD player or anything.

I don't know about the Xbox, but the PS3 is extremely simple. You can buy a PS3break USB dongle and after a few very simple steps be up and running in less than 30 minutes.

is it worth it to mod your ps3?? anyone done it yet? Can you play games online? i'm guessing you can't play burned games online but if you buy the actual games can you play them online??? Thanks for the advice.

It's even easier now! No more need for the dongle you can install custom firmware that does it all on the latest 3.55 firmware. Buy it in the states it's cheaper. But I'm sure sony will find a way to temporarily patch it. You can play online now but I'm sure if you do Sony will start banning people so its best if you leave it offline. This is the safe one that won't brick your ps3.

i used to own both ps3 and 2 xboxes (1modded and 1 not) id say the cheapest by a long margin is a modded xbox if u dont want bluray and online play isnt a biggie for u. u could set urself up with a 2nd hand xbox extra controller with 60+ burned games (if u do it yourself) for less than 250k.

but u also need to factor in other stuff like reliability? do u want online play? bluray? which game exclusives are more appealing? etc.
