On the verge of landing a pretty sweet sounding gig... it'll be an E-2 transfer. My last visa was only granted this past November. The job's not really working out... my employer and I are mutually and amiably agreeing to go separate ways.
Anyway, this new job says the school is reluctant to hire me because they don't want to go through the entire visa process again when I extent in November...?? My recruiter claims that as of July (or June?) of last year, immigration decided that new documents have to be submitted for a visa extension? Despite, you know, the fact that you're on record with having a current E-2 visa, which is or should prove as documentation that you haven't left Korea...!!
Say it ain't so! I haven't heard this. I'm sure I can figure out how to get all my documents before November, even from Korea, but I'm worried my prospective new school will be scared away by the process |

| There have been many posts on this. It really depends on the situation. It is definitely best to have them though just in case. Everything depends on the situation. Just wait for Thompats to reply, or maybe try searching for this exact question.... |

Definitely MAYBE.
Sorry but the reality is that each case is different and there is no one, definitive, blanket answer without case specifics.
There are about 6 Ifs and a dozen or so scenarios to choose from.
Basically, IF they have an apostilled copy of your degree AND a NATIONAL CRC (with apostille) on file then no.
If they do not have the specific request then YES (in all the various combination).
If you are renewing AND you need time to get them, immigration WILL allow you time (basically you sign a document that says you will get them before your next renewal / change of status).
If you are changing employers (transfer) then probably yes but with the caveat as above.
If you are changing your visa (visa run to Japan) then YES.
