Hi all,
Little bit of a travel predicament.
I will arrive at Gimhae airport at 12:15 on a Monday lunchtime, then I want to get to Central Pohang by 2pm.
It's a tall order, I know.
Things I have looked into/am considering:
1) Limousine bus - Would get me there if it was ready to roll at the airport pretty much straight away. I hear there's just one in the morning and one in the evening though?
2) Taxi - Could possibly do the job, but that's gonna be STEEP no? Is there some sort of taxi service that could pick me up and take me there for a set price? I guess it wouldn't be all that bad if me and my one travel companion split it 2 ways. There is the nagging question in my head; will the taxi driver just say 'sure no problem' and take us there?
3) Car rental - Very tempting, but I haven't driven since I passed my test 5 years ago! Maybe I could quickly brush up but seems a little crazy.
4) Buy a scooter (leave it at the airport ready for me) - Same kind of reasoning but seems even more hazardous.
5) Train - Seems like it takes a while just to get to the station itself!
I realize I might have to just shell out the cash for the taxi, but maybe there is something I'm not thinking of? I'm relatively new to Korea anyway so please be gentle if I'm overlooking something obvious.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| Normal intercity bus from the Gimhae bus terminal runs 15 times a day and costs around 8200 won. Takes about an hour and a half, sometimes less. |

I just did the same trip about a month ago. There's a fairly regular bus that goes direct from the airport to Gyeongju and then on to Pohang. It takes a little under 2 hours. Assuming the schedule I have is still current, there's a bus leaving at 12:35 and the next one's not until 1:35. So that would give you around 20 minutes to get off the plane and get your bags and then get a ticket. It picks up out front of both terminals and I believe they each have an office where you buy your tickets.
So that probably wouldn't get you into Pohang until about 2:30. So if you have to get there for 2pm you're probably better off taking a cab to Gimhae Terminal or Busan's Dongbu Bus Terminal from where they have buses every 10 minutes or so to Pohang.
When I was at the airport last month they were testing the subway link, but I'm not sure if it's up and running yet. |
