Hi all,
I just wanted to know has anyone ever had any problems with recruitment agencies posting their resumes and personal details for public viewing online? I am having huge difficulty with ACE recruiting at the moment. I have requested that they take down my details on numerous occasions now and they have continued to ignore me or respond with 'we have taken it down, there is nothing we can do', despite it still being clearly searchable through google. I'm really uncomfortable with the whole situation and theyre very hard to deal with
Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation or who has any advice? thanks in advance |

While I can't offer any advice, I just want to say maybe you should give it a few days for it to be removed from Google's cache if it's still searchable. That's if they took it down at all... |

You just hit upon one of my pet hates. I still have a resume and pic online from 5 years ago that they haven't bothered to delete, despite requests.
I had another (different one) deleted also, but it never clears from the google cache.
Googles cache is basically permanent and you need to buy a special software to remove your entry.
The problem is that its become normal practise in Korea for all the agencies to post peoples personal details online. No sense of privacy. |

I have had problems with this in the past, once with a Korean recruiter, and once with a web page I made in high school (eep!). All you need to do is get it removed from the company/school website, and then contact Google and they will remove it from the search listing for your name (yes, they actually do this, and it usually only takes them a few days). Another option is to pay a crapload of money to a private agency to have them click on other links a million times, thus pushing the resume further down the list on your name search results. Do it yourself for free, provided you can get the company to remove it.
English Work once posted my resume. I didn't even remember sending it to them, and I noticed it when I googled my name (always a good idea to do at least once a month). I had to contact them about three times, but they did finally remove it. I asked politely and put a smiley face in the email the last time.
If you want more details about the Google process, PM me. |

Yeah, I figured it wasn't gonna be easy considering how my efforts have gone so far....
I thought that as well that when I was first told by the company that they had taken the resume down that maybe it might just take google a few days to clear it....three weeks later and I'm not so sure.
Ren 546,I put in a google webmaster request for the specific URL to be removed from a search which appears to be an easy enough procedure providing the controlling company website takes it down first. This was denied which leads me to think that ACE simply haven't made any real effort to take it down.
I think at this stage the privacy issue has become less annoying than the fact that ACE have been so incredibly unhelpful on the matter. Whilst it really annoys me to know theres so much detailed info on me out there, feeling so disrespected by a recruitment company has become an even greater source of frustration. |
