I will finish my job soon and then go to America for vacation. I may come back for another job or I might not. I have not accepted something yet. When I leave from the airport, should I

1) turn in the alien card in and try to get a new visa if I get an offer?

2) keep the card, try to renew my card in America, and come back afterwards?

If I do not want the job (or do not get an offer), I guess I should turn the card in at the airport, right? The new job would start in March.

I think you are late. You need to submit all new documents for a new visa, this includes FBI criminal background check which requires 2-3 months to get.

Renewing cards is probably dependent on whether or not you have a contract accompanying whatever renewal application is needed. Usually this is an "update", not a renewal. You are updating where you will work or live next. If you don't have a place to live or work, well then you don't have anything to update.

You could be fined for not handing in your ARC card also. So instead of renewing, if you forget to hand in the ARC card it is possible you will have to pay this fine back home before getting a new one.

So, I would turn in the ARC card and then get fingerprints done immediately when you go home. Enjoy the wait, and then get ready for a new everything once it comes.

Your options:

1) get a new job and a visa extension (extension on your ARC) before you leave. Keep your ARC, leave and return to your new job.

2) turn in your ARC as you leave (you cannot renew, extend or alter your status from abroad).

If you find a new job while you are home you will need a new visa. The consular interview is not needed for subsequent E2 applications. Just the apostilled FBI CRC and copy of your degree. the visa application process takes about 12 days start to finish the 2nd time around.

3) get fined 100k won at the airport for not turning in your ARC (if you are leaving and not returning or the card is expiring).
