|
|
My new hagwon transferred my visa today, and it was ridiculously simple! I've (almost) finished a year at my old school, and all I needed to transfer the visa was my ARC, passport, signed contract and letter of attorney (so the school could go instead of me). I dropped it off last night and it was done this afternoon. I have no FBI CBC or apostilled diploma on file. I'm so, so happy right now!
Also, today all the FTs at my school got a letter from immigration saying that the visa transfer rules are now relaxed if you change or ADD jobs. Can you add jobs to an E2 now!? |

| Did you finish your contract with the previous school or did you change jobs before the contract ran out? |

| OK thanks, I was just trying to figure out if the rumors about being able to change employers without a LOR are true. |

| yeah, initially they said I needed a LOR, but my school was being difficult about it so the recruiter called immi again and they changed their minds. |

| That's strange, I got a letter saying I could add new employers to my current E2 visa but I'd still need a LOR. |

You always could add new employers on an E2. The requirements were:
ARC, passport, old contract and schedule, new contract and schedule, permission from sponsoring employer, application, fee and 5 working days to process it.
Not much changed there.
They are making the transfer process easier but there are still questions about early termination of employment and permission to transfer.
As to the OP not needing a new CRC and degree copy, IF they have them on file (national CRC and degree COPY (not original), both with an apostille then you do NOT need to resubmit them again unless you are getting a NEW visa.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that I DON'T have either of those things on file. I submitted my original diploma and got it back when I first came, and a statewide CBC. |

Then you will need to submit for your next transfer/change of status (2012 or next change of status).
If you authorized a limited power of attorney for this transfer (used an agent; as in your employer) they may have also, on your behalf, signed without your knowledge the acknowledgment (notice from immigration) that you will provide the new documents in the future.
Korean employers have a bad habit of doing whatever they need to do to acquire their staff (indispensable when hired and disposable at their convenience) and leave the consequences for the NET to sort out when the crap hits the fan.
Just be careful and I would get the documents at your earliest convenience.

You are assuming Kimmi doesn't change her mind yet again. |

Not so. According to the new regs, once you have submitted your notarised Degree with apostille, then you do not need to submit it ever again. It will be kept on file.
CRC is a different matter though. |
